NSAC Extends Suspensions For UFC 229 Brawl Participants

Members of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) met on November 14 and while the final punishments haven’t been handed out to those who participated in the UFC 229 brawl, one ruling was made.

According to a report from MMA Junkie, it has been determined by the NSAC to extend the suspensions handed out by the NSAC to those involved in the UFC 229, brawl. Those who have seen their suspensions extended were Dillon Danis, Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov.

“Video evidence reveals that immediately after the conclusion of the main event, (Danis), who worked the corner for Conor McGregor repeatedly motioned to Khabib Nurmagomedov with his arm to come over towards him,” Nevada Chief Deputy Attorney General Caroline Bateman said during the meeting. “Nurmagomedov jumped over the cage towards the respondent, and the two men engaged in a fight and throw punches towards one another. When officials are able to eventually break up the fight, and they begin to escort the respondent out of the arena, respondent responds by raising his arms and directing obscene gestures towards the cage by extending his middle finger.”

Bateman also mentioned that neither Danis, Tukhugov or Nurmagomedov have responded to a formal letter listing the complaints against them.

NSAC Chairman Anthony A. Marnell III says there could be more people that could be punished for their alleged roles in the brawl, although no names were specified.

“Not sure yet,” Marnell III said to MMA Junkie. “I think it’s (the investigation) close to the end, but not sure.”

The next NSAC meeting is scheduled for December 10 and that could be the date where all the punishments are handed out for the UFC 229 post-fight brawl.
