Nick Diaz Believes Football Players Are Better In MMA Than Amateur Wrestlers
Nick Diaz hasn’t been seen competing in an MMA bout since a no contest against former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva at UFC 183.
Just because the Stockton native hasn’t been in action recently, it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have some opinions on the sport.
Diaz was recently spotted by the TMZ Sports cameras, where he stated that football players are better at mixed martial arts when compared to amateur wrestlers.
“You know what, football players, they actually do best in MMA,” Diaz said. “A lot of times, you get a lot of wrestlers, and they get into the whole thing, and they’re very one-dimensional. They develop a lot of bad habits.”
There have been many football players and amateur wrestlers who have competed in MMA over the years, with competitors from both sports achieving lots of success in MMA. The most recent football player to transition to the world of MMA is Greg Hardy, who makes his pro debut this summer at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Jake Shields is a longtime friend and training partner of Diaz, who recently stated that he could be returning to action soon. If true, it would mean that the amateur wrestlers who disagree with Diaz’s analysis may have a chance to prove him wrong in the near future.
