A young Nic Nemeth had big dreams, and he’s come close to accomplishing some of them.
Nic Nemeth, known for decades in WWE as Dolph Ziggler, is the current TNA Wrestling World Champion. While he’s not ready to retire just yet, he has given a little thought to life after wrestling and potential political ventures.
However, a young Nic Nemeth once thought that he would parlay victories in the early UFC into a spot hosting Saturday Night Live, and that would be his ticket to WWE, which would eventually be his ticket into politics.
Speaking with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, Nic Nemeth reflected on his final days in high school and the fun prediction he made for his future.
“I did want to do MMA stuff. ‘It’s really hard to explain that, you understand, but people who are 20 years old only think of it as this multi-billion dollar industry, and no, it was on a VHS tape, and I don’t know where it came from, from one pay-per-view somewhere,” he recalled. “My last day of high school in English class, Mr. Barker’s English class, we go around the room and say, in 10 years from now, what’s the speech you’re giving, or what are you doing?
“I go, ‘Well, after I win UFC 15, I’m using that to get on Saturday Night Live. Then, when I get to Saturday Night Live and host that. I’m going to use that hosting job to talk to Vince McMahon through NBC and get a job as a professional wrestler. Then, when I do that for 20 years, I’m going to get into politics. I’m going to be the mayor of Palm Springs or senator or something.’ I’m kind of on the way. So we’ll see how that goes. Bits and pieces, baby steps.”
Shout out to Mr. Barker.
Nic Nemeth hasn’t hosted Saturday Night Live, but he’s dipped his toes into the pool of stand-up comedy.
