Nate Diaz Skipped UFC 241 Media Day

Nate Diaz is back in action for the first time in over two years at UFC 241, facing former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of the show.

Most of the fighters who are competing on tomorrow nights card appeared yesterday at the UFC 241 media day, one notable competitor in Diaz did not show up.

The reasoning behind the lack of Diaz at the UFC 241 Media Day was because Diaz felt he had answered enough of the media’s questions during the UFC 241 Open Workouts the day before. Diaz had also told the UFC that he wouldn’t be appearing during the UFC 241 Media Day, so the promotion was aware of the fighter’s no show. MMA Fighting is also reporting that UFC President Dana White had okayed Diaz not appearing at the media event.

Diaz may have made a big enough statement at the UFC 241 Open Workouts, where he lit up a blunt while warming up for the workout.

Pettis, who is going to be fighting Diaz at UFC 241, did show up on media day and answered questions from the MMA media.

UFC 241 takes place on Saturday, August 17 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California with Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
