Nate Diaz Says He’ll Never Retire

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal headlined the UFC 244 card, with Masvidal scoring a third round TKO victory to win the BMF Championship.

It appeared that Diaz was going to retire after the fight, but Diaz says that he’ll never be retiring from professional MMA.

“Who said I was retired?” he said to ESPN (via Simon Head of MMA Junkie). “I’ll fight tonight. “I’ll fight forever. I’m never going to retire, that’s for sure.”

While Diaz did say “peace out to the fight game” in the Instagram post, one thing the fighter didn’t specifically mention was retirement. Diaz once took a near-three year break from MMA competition, not competing from UFC 202 in August of 2016 to UFC 241 in August of 2019.

Diaz’s brother Nick Diaz has been on a longer break than Nate, with his last bout taking place at UFC 183 in January of 2015.

One thing Nate did want before putting up the Instagram post last week was a second bout with Masvidal, which Masvidal seemingly wanted as well, but UFC President Dana White wasn’t too keen on the idea
