Miesha Tate/Raquel Pennington Added To UFC 205

A third women’s bout has been added to November’s UFC 205 card and it takes place in the bantamweight division as former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate takes on Raquel Pennington, this is according to ESPN.

Tate (18-6-0) will be competing for the first time since losing her bantamweight title via rear naked choke submission to Amanda Nunes at UFC 200. Tate defeated Holly Holm at UFC 196 via the same rear naked choke submission to win the championship in the first place.

Pennington (8-5-0) has won four of her last five in UFC competition, with notable wins coming over Bethe Correia and Ashlee Evans-Smith. Pennington has fought a women’s bantamweight champion before, losing to Holly Holm by decision at UFC 184.

Tate is also a former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion as well, defeating Marloes Coenen to win the belt and then later, losing it to Ronda Rousey.

Pennington has been a champion before in her career as well, as she held the Destiny MMA Women’s Bantamweight Title in 2012.

This is the third women’s bout added to UFC 205, as Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her strawweight title against Karolina Kowalkiewiecz and Liz Carmouche will be taking on Katlyn Chookagian at the event as well.

On a side note, a welterweight division fight between Belal Muhammad and Lyman Good has been added to the card as well.

UFC 205 takes place on Saturday, November 12th from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with no main event announced as of yet.
