Michael ‘Venom’ Page Announces Bellator Departure, Will Attend UFC London on 7/22
Michael Page is a free agent.
Following a 10-year run in Bellator MMA, Michael ‘Venom’ Page has announced that he’s departed the California-based promotion.
During an appearance on ‘The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani,’ Page delved into his current status on the MMA free agency market:
“I am currently unemployed. I think it’s time for me to just explore what else is out there. It doesn’t mean I’m not going to go back with Bellator. It just means I want to see what other people think of ‘MVP.’”
The 31-year old fan-favorite noted that while Bellator holds the right to match any offer from an outside promotion, he believes Scott Coker and co. would be more than willing to allow him to leave without any hassle if he so chooses to.
Having ‘a lot of options on the table,’ Page teased a potential return to both boxing and bare-knuckle boxing in the near future. However, Page dropped quite the potential bomb when he told Helwani that he’d be attending this weekend’s UFC London event on 7/22.
Holding 17-2 record under the Bellator umbrella, ‘MVP’ holds the promotion’s record for most knockouts of all-time (11). Page’s only two shortcomings in the Bellator cage came against former champion Douglas Lima before being on the wrong end of quite the controversial split-decision against Logan Storley for the interim 170-pound title.
In perhaps his final appearance for Bellator, Page knocked out perennial contender Goiti Yamauchi in just 26 seconds this past March.
