Michael Page Says He’s Accomplished Things Faster Than Paul Daley
The Bellator MMA debut for UFC veteran Rory MacDonald is set for Bellator 179 this May, he will be taking on Paul Daley.
One person who’s not excited for Daley to get such a big fight is Michael Page, who says that he’s accomplished his goals in MMA faster than his UK counterpart has.
“It seems like, the way he’s talking is like he’s that much more established in where he is,” Page said to MMA Junkie. “But yet we’re standing on the same stage. We’re sitting on the exact same stage. It doesn’t mean anything else. And everyone’s still talking about me and you fighting, so you’re journey hasn’t changed where we are. I just started later, and technically I’ve done it faster than you.”
Page has fought some UFC veterans before as well, defeating Nah-Shon Burrell by unanimous decision at Bellator 128.
Page doesn’t just feel likes he’s accomplished things quicker than Daley in MMA, he also feels disappointed in Daley as a person.
“I am simply disappointed at how he was carrying on before all of this actually even started,” Page said. “Because I just feel like a bit of a mug to call someone a friend and then hear what they’re saying about you. Someone sends you a message. So I just felt stupid, really. And it’s more about that. The fight, it is what it is. I think that’s the best way to say it, like ‘I’ve got a problem with you now and want to fight you.’ It was as simple as that. I knew from hearsay, from behind, I knew he was already planning on something else. So the memes and everything was to try to egg him, make him just U-turn and be like, ‘OK.’ I know he’s a bit fiery as well, so I thought he might bite. Didn’t work. No problem.”
Bellator 179 takes place on Friday, May 19 from the SSE Arena in London, England with Paul Daley and Rory MacDonald headlining.
