UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is in the midst of training for his fight with Floyd Mayweather this coming August.
If the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) assigns Kenny Bayless as the official for the fight, then McGregor’s team will protest the assignment.
“Yes, I’ll be objecting to that,” McGregor’s coach in John Kavanagh said to on an Irish message board.
Kavanagh had previously suggested that MMA referee Marc Goddard should officiate the fight, even though he has little to no pro boxing officiating experience to speak of.
Bayless apparently isn’t liked too well by UFC President Dana White, who spoke out against Bayless via Twitter:
Seriously? This is Kenny Bayless who works for the NSAC a potential ref for the fight. Sounds like he works for the crybaby Oscar De La Arum pic.twitter.com/7yLvORqMOQ

Nobody from Mayweather’s camp has addressed the potential of Bayless being the official for the fight.
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
