McGregor And Aldo: From Enemies To Frenemies?

One of the biggest rivalries in the entire MMA world, especially in the last few years, has been the rivalry between current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and current UFC Interim Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo.

The two clashed at UFC 194 in a bout that lasted all of thirteen seconds, that is because Conor knocked out Aldo with the third punch he threw in the fight and Aldo went out cold. There was a ton of trash talks and confrontations leading up to and after that fight, but something was recently said by Aldo on the TV show Revista Combate.

In that interview, Aldo talked about a lot of topics, one of the biggest being his current relationship with his longtime rival…

“It’s a friendly relationship. I don’t have a problem with him trying to promote himself. If we take a look at it money-wise, it was pretty good. I think there should be more fighters like him at featherweight. I’m not his friend, though. He can go his way and I can go mine.”

Aldo even talks about what Conor is like when the cameras are not rolling…

“I’ve seen him staring at a wall, looking at nothing with everyone around him trying to taunt him and he would just stand there, gazing. He’s a regular, mellow guy, but if he sees a camera or some Irish people, he transforms in a such way that makes you say to yourself ‘son of a bitch'”.

Aldo even talks about a time that he hung out with his fellow champion…

“One day we were hanging out and he said he was going to get the coffee and I said I wanted mine with sugar and he said something like ‘nice’. Most of the times we met, there was always someone recording us, though, so he had to keep his persona up. With no cameras, he changes completely.”

Neither Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo have any scheduled fight’s at this moment in time, but with McGregor being the featherweight champion and Aldo being the interim featherweight champion, a second clash may be heading our way one day.
