Matt Mitrione Comments On Fight Cancellation
Fans weren’t the only people who were disappointed that the Bellator 172 main event fight between Matt Mitrione and Fedor Emelianenko was canceled.
Mitrione, who’s dealing with kidney stones, was pulled from the fight by Bellator MMA President Scott Coker a short time before the event was set to begin.
The UFC veteran took to Twitter to explain his situation to the fans:
Thank you for understanding the misery I've been in trying to pass this big ass stone without so much as an aspirin. #StillHasntPassed

And for y'all fools that have the nerve to claim that I'm scared or faking, come hold these nuts while I try to finally pee this stone out

During the post-fight press conference, Coker did say that the fight would be rescheduled down the line, hopefully within the next few months.
A lightweight bout between Josh Thomson and Patricky Freire wound up headlining the card, with Freire getting the win via second round knockout.
