Matt Frevola Says The UFC Took Care Of Him After Canceled Fight

Matt Frevola and Frank Camacho were supposed to meet on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov, but Frevola’s cornerman Billy Quarantillo tested positive for the coronavirus and Frevola was pulled from the bout.

While Frevola is understandably unhappy with being pulled from the fight, one thing he understands is that the UFC has to be cautious during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I had two negative tests that week, so I thought I was good to fight,” Frevola said to MMA Junkie. “Then late Wednesday night, they told me it was off. … Yeah, I get (the decision). I mean, these are unprecedented times. I guess you’ve got to play on the side of caution for now.”

Justin Jaynes wound up replacing Frevola at the event and he scored a first round TKO win over Camacho.

Frevola, despite not competing at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov, says the UFC still took care of him.

“They really took care of me,” Frevola said. “They paid me my show and my win. It definitely took a little bit of the salt out of the wound. Yeah, they took care of me.”

There is no word yet on when Frevola will return to action, but the fighter says he would like to be back in the Octagon by August.
