Marc Goddard To Officiate UFC 252 Main Event, Judges Set
Referee Marc Goddard will handle officiating duties when UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defends the gold against former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 252.
A meeting was held on Wednesday by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) and they have determined that Goddard will referee the main event clash between Miocic and Cormier. Goddard also officiated their first meeting at UFC 226; meanwhile, Herb Dean officiated their second encounter at UFC 241. Goddard previously officiated two bouts for Miocic. UFC 252 will mark the second time he has shared the Octagon with DC.
Judges have also been set for the UFC 252 event. Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo will oversee the scorecards. The first two encounters between Cormier and Miocic did not need the judges: UFC 226 ended in the first round and UFC 241 was stopped in the fourth.
UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Miocic vs. Cormier will top the card. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
