Marc Goddard Issues Second Statement On McGregor Hopping Cage At Bellator 187
Referee Marc Goddard was officiating a fight that saw Charlie Ward defeat John Redmond at Bellator 187.
The longtime referee also got involved in the melee as UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor hopped into the cage to celebrate with teammate Ward.
McGregor and Goddard did get into a verbal altercation as the whole situation was going down, plus McGregor also made contact with several Bellator MMA and ABC officials.
After releasing a short statement through Twitter a few days ago, the longtime MMA referee has now issued a much longer statement via Facebook:
This is the second time in recent weeks that the UFC Lightweight Champion and MMA referee have gotten into an altercation. The first time took place a short time ago at UFC Fight Night Gdansk because Goddard told McGregor to stay in his seat in the crowd after the Irishman was doing his best to corner Artem Lobov.
Since the incident occurred, the UFC Lightweight Champion has issued an apology for his role in the ruckus.
