Manager Says Germaine De Randamie Not Retiring
UFC Featherweight Champion Germaine De Randamie hasn’t been heard or seen much since defeating Holly Holm to win the gold at UFC 208.
Rumors have started swirling that De Randamie may be retiring, but her longtime manager says that it simply isn’t true.
“She’s got things going on at home and stuff going on at police academy,” Brian Butler-Au told MMA Junkie. “The UFC’s aware of it, and we are working through it. That’s all I can say at the moment.”
De Randamie’s first title defense has yet to be set, but former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino has been campaigning for a title shot at UFC 214.
No matter what we all here about De Randamie right now, her longtime manager wants everybody to now that it’s all strictly rumors.
“Everything that you’re hearing right now is just rumor mill,” Butler-Au said.
The UFC Women’s Featherweight Division isn’t exactly off to the best of starts yet, with no divisional fights being announced at this time and there isn’t even a top 15 rankings for the division. UFC President Dana White said in the past that he didn’t want to start the division and with the champions mysterious whereabouts, the UFC President may have been right all along.
