Mackenzie Dern Makes The UFC Rankings, Fighters Aren’t Happy
Mackenzie Dern has won both of her fights in the UFC, but the Brazilian did come in seven pounds overweight for a submission win over Amanda Cooper at UFC 224.
Despite the weight miss and lack of UFC experience, voters awarded Dern the #15 spot in the UFC Women’s Strawweight Division rankings and some fighters aren’t very happy with that.
That first fighter is Angela Hill, who was bumped out of the rankings in order to make room for the recently overweight Dern. Hill expressed her feelings through Twitter:
Well this is a big fat slap in the face. I’ve fought top competition, beat #14 and the rankings finally grace me with #15 ranking, just to get bumped by a fucking Flyweight. pic.twitter.com/ZYlP5Ogs6w

The other fighter who is angry with Dern being in the rankings is #8 Felice Herrig, who also shared her thoughts through Instagram:
Hill holds a 3-4-0 record in the UFC and is a former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, while Herrig is 5-2-0 under the UFC banner. Dern is 2-0-0 in UFC competition, but has also missed weight for three of her seven professional MMA bouts.
