Luke Rockhold Reveals Recovery Setback In Social Media Post
Luke Rockhold’s road to recovery has hit a big road bump, and the middleweight now undergoing stem cell treatment.
Rockhold said that hopes to return to training in about a month, but it is unclear when he will fight again as stem cell treatments are still a relatively new treatment for athletes. Rockhold also mentioned that he hopes to avoid surgery.
He took social media to give an update on his status, revealing that his MCL sprain has gotten worse.
“In case you’re wondering why I haven’t been in the gym lately,” Rockhold wrote in the post. “What was a grade two MCL sprain turned into a grade three somewhere in the process of my last training camp. I’m doing what I can to avoid surgery and get healthy. I had a stem cell procedure done a week and a half ago. Hoping to get back to training in 3-4 weeks. There’s nothing I want more then to get back in the gym, get back in the cage and get my belt back.”
Before the loss, Rockhold won his previous six fights including beating Chris Weidman back in December 2015 to win the UFC Middleweight Championship.
