Lorenz Larkin Says He Tried Fighting Andrey Koreshkov At Catchweight
Lorenz Larkin was supposed to headline Bellator 219 against former welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov, but an injury knocked the UFC veteran from the card.
An injured Larkin tried to get the fight done at catchweight since an injury hampered the weight cut, but Koreshkov apparently didn’t go for it.
“And the opposing camp didn’t accept that,” he said to MMA Junkie. “I understand, but I don’t. I’ve been in this game for a while, so it’s not like I pulled some shady type (expletive), where two weeks before the fight, like, guess what guys? It’s going to be a catchweight. It was more than enough notice, and they didn’t accept the fight at (180 pounds). What can I do? It is what it is.”
Koreshkov, who fought Mike Jasper at Bellator 219, recently stated that he is still interested in a fight with Larkin.
Speaking of a potential rescheduled fight with Koreshkov, it appears that Larkin would like to get it done early this summer.
“Maybe late May, early June,” Larkin said. “I don’t know, but I’m feeling good. I get to enjoy my adult apple juice, and just enjoy the night. So it’s alright.”
Larkin hasn’t fought since Bellator 207, where he defeated Ion Pascu by unanimous decision to become an alternate in the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix.
