Ketlen Vieira Willing To Be Title Fight Backup At UFC 245

Two division UFC champion Amanda Nunes is defending the women’s bantamweight title against former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine De Randamie at UFC 245

Ketlen Vieira is also competing at the event and is willing to be a backup for the title fight if need be.

“If (the title fight) falls through, I’m ready (to be a replacement),” Vieira said to AG Fight. “Especially because it won’t be so different from my current opponent, they are both strikers, so it would all remain in the same realm. (If the opportunity arises) I would accept it, for sure.”

Vieira is going to be facing Irene Aldana at UFC 245, with their bout being a part of the preliminary card.

The fighter knows that whether or not she competes for a title at UFC 245, a shot at the gold is in Vieira’s future.

“I’m the number two fighter in the rankings,” she said. “Amanda will be fighting the number one fighter on the same night. If I win, I don’t see anyone ahead of me. I will become number one. Of course every athlete wants to be the champion, but I’m focused on Aldana. To me, she is the one who has the belt.”

UFC 245 takes place on Saturday, December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
