Ketlen Vieira Says The UFC Canceling UFC 250 Would Be The Right Thing To Do

The coronavirus pandemic has been wreaking havoc across the globe and the MMA world has been affected by the virus as well.

UFC 250 is scheduled for this May and Ketlen Vieira, who is fighting on the card, says canceling the event would be the right thing to do.

“I don’t think there will be an event in Sao Paulo, because deaths have been confirmed. We’re just waiting for the UFC to tell us something. Cancelling it would be the right thing for the UFC to do. In order to fight, I need to prepare. How can I fight if I can’t prepare? Especially in our sport, where there’s contact and I can’t touch anyone. There’s been no preparation because they cancelled everything,” Vieira said to AG Fight. “They thought it would be for the best if there were no training sessions. Nobody is training, we’re trapped home. I don’t go out for anything. I was only running and I don’t even know if I’ll be able to do that this week. We’re not allowed to go out.”

Vieira is expected to fight Marion Reneau at the event, which is still on as of this writing.

One huge reason Vieira wouldn’t mind seeing the event canceled is so everybody competing, including herself, can keep their health intact.

“I’m not afraid of the event getting cancelled. I think my health and everyone else’s comes first in a situation like this. I have no problem with it being cancelled,” says Vieira.

UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Henry Cejudo and Jose Aldo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
