Jussier Formiga Undergoes Shoulder Surgery After UFC 250 Loss

Jussier Formiga last competed on the preliminary card of UFC 250, suffering a first round TKO loss to Alex Perez.

The fighter suffered the defeat due to leg kicks, but wound up getting shoulder surgery on his right shoulder a short time after UFC 250.

“I ended up having shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for a bit,” Formiga said to MMA Fighting. “I also felt (the shoulder) in the fight. I hurt it in camp and ended up doing a MRI, and it showed an injury.”

Formiga also believed that he suffered a serious knee injury during the fight, one of which that would’ve required surgery, but post-fight tests showed that Formiga only had leg contractures.

There is no word yet on when Formiga will be back in the Octagon, but the fighter could return to training in approximately eight to ten weeks. Formiga is currently on a career worst three fight losing streak, with those defeats coming to the trio of Joseph Benavidez, Brandon Moreno and the aforementioned Perez.
