Jose Aldo Explains Max Holloway’s Tools
UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is preparing for a title unification fight against UFC Interim Featherweight Champion Max Holloway at UFC 212.
Aldo will be competing for the first time since UFC 200, but he knows he’s stepping into the octagon with a dangerous opponent.
“He’s a tall guy, but I have good reach, too,” Aldo told Combat. “It’s no trouble, it’s only a few centimeters. He has an advantage being taller than me, but I don’t see him being an expert anywhere. He’s a kickboxer, he’s versatile there, but his jiu-jitsu is so-so. He’s not a complete fighter, but he’s aggressive and dangerous.”
The Brazilian star was awarded the featherweight title after then champion Conor McGregor was stripped of the belt once he won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.
Holloway won the interim featherweight title at UFC 206 when he defeated former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis by TKO.
The two champions have traded barbs before through social media and other media outlets, this will be their first meeting inside of the Octagon.
UFC 212 takes place on Saturday, June 3 from the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Jose Aldo and Max Holloway headlining.
