John McCarthy Says Daniel Cormier Has Nothing To Apologize For
Referee “Big” John McCarthy oversaw the UFC Light Heavyweight Title bout between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones at UFC 214.
Cormier was violently knocked out by Jones in that fight and the effects of that knockout caused Cormier to act in an uncharacteristic manner towards the referee.
The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion would apologize to McCarthy, but the longtime MMA referee says the former champ has not to apologize about.
McCarthy would issue his statement via Twitter:
1/2 @dc_mma U have nothing to apologize for. You have been an incredible champion who has represented the sport of MMA with class & dignity

2/2 @dc_mma you also fought a great fight against an incredible competitor. It was an honor being in the cage with 2 of the greatest #AskBJM

For Cormier, the knockout loss to Jones was the first time he was finished in any manner during his professional MMA career.
