John Lineker Back In Training After Injury
John Lineker was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 207, where he was on the receiving end of a fractured jaw given to him by former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw.
The bantamweight contender is back in training, but that does come with some modifications.
"I’m already training well,” Lineker told MMA Fighting. "I can’t get hit in the head yet. I’m using a helmet, but I’m already training well.”
Lineker is expected to return to action by July, but nothing has been made official at this time.
One fighter that Lineker would like to fight is former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz, but he doesn’t expect to fight him right away.
"I don’t believe the UFC will give me Dominick Cruz,” Lineker said. "They will definitely give me someone else. I’m not sure who I’ll fight next, but it’s definitely not Dominick Cruz. I’m here to fight anyone. I want to go back in there and put on a fight."
If Lineker does return this July, then there are five UFC events scheduled for him to return at, they are the UFC Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale (7/7), UFC 213 (7/8), UFC Fight Night 113 (7/16), UFC On Fox 25 (7/22) and UFC 214 (7/29).
