John Dodson Is A Free Agent, Willing To Re-Sign With The UFC

UFC Ultimate Fighter 14 Champion and two time flyweight title challenger John Dodson is current a free agent after his last bout in the UFC against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 222.

Dodson is free to take offers from other MMA promotions as the UFC’s exclusive negotiation rights period has ended.

Ricky Kottenstette is Dodson’s manager and he says that Dodson is willing to return to the promotion the fighter has called home for the last six-plus years.

“We’re definitely open to returning to the UFC,” Kottenstette said to MMA NYTT. “Right now we’re just seeing what other offers are out there as John looks to do what’s best for him and his family.”

Kottenstette also revealed that he and Dodson recently had discussions with the UFC about a new contract, but no deal could be made at the time.

The fighter won nine of thirteen bouts during his tenure with the promotion, with notable wins coming over UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw, TUF 24 champion Tim Elliott, John Moraga, Zach Makovsky, former WEC Bantamweight Champion Eddie Wineland and the aforementioned Pedro Munhoz.

If Dodson does wind up signing with another promotion, it would mark the first time he has competed outside of the UFC since December of 2010.
