Joe Soto Regrets Missing Out On UFC History

Joe Soto made his UFC debut at UFC 177 and on that night, challenged and lost to UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw. The situation came about when original challenger Renan Barao couldn't compete due to weight cut complications.

The fighter has competed a total of six times under the UFC banner now, and in his third fight with Michinori Tanaka at UFC 195, an attempt at history came up short.

During the aforementioned fight with Tanaka, the one time title challenger has a chance to submit him with a gogoplata. If Soto had submitted Tanaka with the hold, it would have been the first ever submission of its kind successfully pulled off in the UFC.

Upon learning of the news, the fighter took to Instagram to share his regret:

Unfortunately, the fighter was unable to make UFC history that night, but he has since rattled off three straight wins.

Soto last competed at UFC Fight Night 106, where he defeated Rani Yahya by decision.
