Joanna Jedzrejczyk Wonders If Rose Namajunas Is Really Injured
Former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedzrejczyk returned to the win column at UFC On Fox 30 when she defeated Tecia Torres by unanimous decision.
Rose Namajunas is the current women’s strawweight champion and is out of action for the time being, but Jedrzejczyk is wondering if the title holder is actually injured.
“What I’m hearing is that she’s not really injured,” Jedrzejczyk said to MMA Junkie. “Maybe she is. I don’t know. Maybe she is injured, so I am sorry. I give her credit. She’s the champ. … If she’s injured, OK. But if she’s just playing, and she just wants holiday, let UFC know that. ‘I want a holiday, I want a break.’ Let UFC make an interim belt, and let’s fight for the belt.”
Namajunas has defeated Jedrzejczyk twice under the UFC banner, with those wins coming at UFC 217 and at UFC 223.
Jedrzejczyk doesn’t care what’s going on with the champ because she will chase Namjunas to get the gold back.
“I will chase you,” Jedrzejczyk said. “I will chase the belt. I will chase you until the next fight. … I will become a champion again.”
The champion did admit that she has been seeing a therapist to deal with the issues surrounding the Conor McGregor bus attack, as Namajunas was on the bus attacked by the Irishman before UFC 223.
