Joanna Jedrzejczyk To Undergo Surgery Next Week

Former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk came up short in her bid to recapture the title at UFC 248.

The fighter wasn’t only defeated at the event, but will now have to undergo some surgery to repair damage done to her by Zhang Weili at UFC 248.

“My whole face is bruised but … there’s no more swelling on my head,” Jedrzejczyk said to TMZ Sports (via Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie). “It’s more on my face, and like my neck. It’s going down, but it’s much better. I scheduled surgery in Poland with the best plastic surgeon, so it’s all good. On Monday, I’ll have a small medical procedure on my ear and the swelling will go down and I will be ready to rock and roll.”

There is no word yet on how long Jedrzejczyk is expected to be out of action for, but more should be known after the surgery is completed.

While coming off of a major loss can be a negative for some, it seems like Jedrzejczyk is just putting her best foot forward.

“I want to fight the best, if it’s the next step, yes … of course, why not?” Jedrzejczyk said. “Let’s rock and roll again. Let’s dance again, fight for the belt. I’m not sad. I’m not happy. I’m just resting, recovering my body, and I cut myself a little bit from the media, from what’s going on around, and I feel good.”

Jedrzejczyk has only won two of the last six bouts and the fighter is 0-4-0 in her last four title fights.
