Joachim Christensen Knows He Needs To Improve His Boxing
Joachim Christensen earned a third-round knockout finish of Bojan Mihajlovic at UFC Fight Night 103 on January 15. Despite the stoppage victory, Christensen knows he has to develop his boxing game, something he plans on doing before his next appearance in the Octagon.
“I was a little bit disappointed about my boxing, but hey, it’s small gloves,” he said to MMA Junkie. “So if you get caught, you’re out. Sometimes, it doesn’t go the way you want. So it’s back to training to get even better.”
Christensen finished Mihajlovic with a counter uppercut, something he knew he could counter with against a swinging Mihajlovic.
“I knew that Bojan was coming forward with his overhand, and if that connected, I’d be looking up against the ceiling,” he said. “So I had to take my time, even though my corner was saying to pop that jab.”
Christensen signed with the UFC in 2016 and he has gone 1-1-0 thus far in the promotion, he has also competed in such promotions the M-1 Challenge, Abu Dhabi Warriors and Superior Challenge. The win over Mihjalovic marked the first time Christensen earned a victory under the UFC banner. Christensen, whose overall record is 14-4, has no fights lined up at the time of this article.
