Jimi Manuwa Says He Doesn’t Want To Fight “Steroid User” Jon Jones

Jimi Manuwa is focused on championship, not Jon Jones.

Saturday, Manuwa defeated Corey Anderson with a first round knockout. The fight was in Manuwa's hometown of London for UFC Fight Night 107, where he was greeted with a hero'. At the post-fight press conference, he was asked about who he wants to fight at the top of the division. He told the reporters he is focused on a championship opportunity against either Daniel Cormier or Anthony Johnson and not the returning former champion Jones.

“I’m not interested in Jon Jones. Jon Jones takes steroids, and he’s been banned for steroids and that. Before, I was a big fan of Jon and the things he’s done in the octagon and everything. But he’s been suspended for a year or something because he’s had issues before. He’s a great fighter, I respect him. But he’s been done for steroids, and that taints everything that he’s done. So I’m not really interested. When he comes back, I’ll fight him. No problem. But I’m focused on the belt right now, and that’s going to be the winner of DC and Rumble Johnson,” said Manuwa

Johnson and Cormier will fight for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 210 on April 8th. Manuwa would reiterate he would not reject a fight with Jones, if not given the championship bout next.

"Listen, I don't turn down anybody, I'm not scared of anybody. Everyone bleeds and everyone feels pain," said Manuwa. "Everyone feels pain and everyone bleeds the same, unless you're taking steroids. That's what I've got a problem with, it is what it is. I'll fight Jon Jones," added Manuwa.

Manuwa said he will be meeting with Dana White soon to decide his next fight. Jones will be eligible to fight in July, Manuwa said his next fight might be booked by then.
