Jeremy Stephens Says Eye Poke Wasn’t A Lie
Rodriguez alluded to the fact that Stephens may have lied about getting poked in the eye and Stephens says that simply isn’t true.
“Yair, you think I’m faking it, brother. You’re the one that poked me in the eye,” Stephens said to Karyn Bryan of ESPN (via Dave Doyle of MMA Junkie). “Let’s run it back, four or five weeks, two weeks, whatever. I’ll be ready. Just a deep scratch or a deep bruise. You’re the one who poked me. Let’s run it back, mother(expletive). Let’s go.”
This was the first time that both Stephens and Rodriguez had one of their professional MMA bouts end in a no contest due to an accidental eye poke.
A dejected Stephens did say he suffered a deep scratch and deep bruise due to the eye poke from Rodriguez, but will only need a few weeks to recover. Stephens also called for a rematch with Rodriguez, who has yet to respond to that request from Stephens.
