Jan Blachowicz Wants A Title Shot After UFC Prague
Jan Blachowicz is back in action this weekend at UFC Fight Night Prague, facing Thiago Santos in the main event of the show.
The fighter, who sits at #4 in the UFC Light Heavyweight Division rankings, would like a shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight Title after a potential win on Saturday Night.
“I hope so – and I believe that (I’m next in line for a title shot),” Blachowicz said to MMA Junkie. “But first of all, I have to win on Saturday. I’m only focusing on Thiago, and we can talk about this after the fight. He’s a crazy fighter – strong, dynamic, knockout power in his legs and his fists. It’s going to be a nice fight.”
There are three fighters ranked ahead of Blachowicz and with the exception of Anthony Smith, who faces Jon Jones for the title at UFC 235, everybody has already gotten at least two bouts against the champ.
Blachowicz believes that he’ll either submit and get the KO/TKO against Santos this coming Saturday.
“I’m a tactical fighter,” he said. “So I’ve got some tactics for him, and we we’ll see how it’s going to work. I’m ready for five, five-minute rounds. But if he lifts his neck, I will submit him. If he lifts his face, I will knock him out. I don’t want to fight 25 minutes; it’s too long!”
UFC Fight Night Prague takes place on Saturday, February 23 from the 02 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic with Jan Blachowicz and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
