Jailed TUF Alumni Has Threatened Penn Family

Fightful reported recently that UFC Ultimate Fighter 6 alumni Daniel Berrera has been imprisoned in a Hawaii prison after allegedly assaulting an female high school wrestler during practice.

Berrera’s story continues to take a turn for the worse, which began after a court appearance this past Friday (2/10/17), where he allegedly admitted to making threats to the family of former UFC Welterweight Champion and former UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn. Berrera was brought to court this time around for first degree terroristic threat charges, according to the Hawaii Tribune-Herald. Berrera made threats the day before being in court towards a Hawaii Community Correctional Center nurse and prison guard.

Berrera allegedly told the guard “he gonna get his one day,“ and then telling the nurse “I was in the military and I killed guys, so I got no problem killing again.” Berrera also allegedly told the nurse that he was going to “get B.J. Penn.” He made other statements about other members of the Penn Family, this is apparently stemming from a situation before Berrera was initially arrested, as he appeared at the Penn Training & Fitness Center to challenge the Penn Family and others to fights.

Another situation broke out in the court room on Friday, when Berrera was made aware of the media’s request to take pictures and video of the proceedings, Berrera shouted the following during the proceedings:

“Yes. Absolutely. F***ing yes! Please record, please. I am a celebrity. I am a combat veteran and yeah, I was on The Ultimate Fighter 6 baby! I’m a singer. I do commercials.”

Judge Dakota Frenz is currently requesting that Berrera undergo more mental evaluations and his bail is current set at $50,000.
