Injury Changes Fight On UFC On Fox 23
John Phillips has suffered an injury and has been forced out of next week’s UFC On Fox 23 card. Replacing him against Marcos Rogerio De Lima will be Jeremy Kimball.
Kimball (14-5-0) will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Kimball also competed twice under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating Keith Berry, while suffering a defeat to Perry Filkins. Kimball has already defeated four UFC veterans in his career, they are Matt Van Buren, Tom Speer, Drew McFedries and Chidi Njokuani.
De Lima (14-4-1) has won three of five fights under the UFC banner, defeating Richardson Moreira, Igor Pokrajac and Clint Hester, while suffering defeats to Nikita Krylov and Gadzhimurad Antigulov. De Lima also competed once under the Strikeforce banner, dropping a bout to Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov. De Lima has yet to see any of his fights go past the first round and it has been over three years since one of his fights did.
UFC On Fox 23 takes place on Saturday, January 28 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado with Juliana Pena and Valentina Shevchenko headlining.
