Holly Holm Open To Fighting For Two Titles In The UFC
Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm returned to her winning ways when she scored a head kick knockout over Bethe Correia at UFC Fight Night: Singapore.
The former champion is looking to hold gold in the UFC again, in both the women’s bantamweight and women’s featherweight divisions.
“It would be cool to fight for the belt but, you know, if it happens it happens,” Holm said on The MMA Hour. “I’m just kind of curious to see how the next fight goes in a couple weeks and then just kind of go from there. I’d definitely love to fight for the belt again, I think that would be awesome, but I definitely know that it would have to be an opportunity presented to me and we’ll see if that happens. I’m one of those, I could fight at either weight class. But I don’t one to be, go every other [fight], 35, 45, 35, 45. Going to 35 I always try to walk around as light as I can. I walk around 149, 148, before the cut the last week that’s almost what I’d be weighing in at 145. I definitely wouldn’t want to be bouncing around every fight. I’m open to both, but I don’t want to be on the fence all the time.”
Holm won the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title at UFC 193 after defeating the then undefeated Ronda Rousey.
Despite being a former champion, the fighter knew that she was in a spot that she was never in before against Correia, which was being in the midst of a three fight losing streak.
“It was a new spot I had never been in,” Holm said. “I guess going into this fight I just told myself there’s not even an option to lose this fight, Holly. Not even an option. You’re just going to go in there and you’re going do it and I didn’t even put anything else in my head.”
Although her next fight has yet to be announced, the former champion expects to return to action by the end of the year.
