Henry Cejudo Expecting TJ Dillashaw Fight, Elimination Of The Flyweight Division

UFC Flyweight Champion Henry Cejduo won the gold at UFC 227, defeating Demetrious Johnson by split decision in the co-main event of the show.

The talk in the MMA world has been about a potential super fight between Cejudo and UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw, a bout that is potentially closer to happening according to Cejudo, especially with the potential end of the men’s flyweight division.

“I think more likely that T.J. fight might happen,” Cejudo said on The Joe Rogan Experience. “That T.J. fight might happen if they’re going to be done with the flyweight division. I think that cat’s out of the bag and Dana had mentioned that to me. He said, ‘Hey Cejudo, we’re going to take you up on that challenge for you to go up against T.J., but this is what the company has been thinking about for while.’”

Dillashaw also fought at UFC 227 and neither he or Cejudo have a fight booked at the moment.

Super fight or not, one thing fans can expect is for Cejudo to hang up the gloves within the next three to four years.

“I’ve accomplished everything I’ve ever wanted to in my career,” Cejudo said. “I had three goals. My number-one goal was just to be a good person, a good father, a good husband. And then after that was to be an Olympic champ and eventually a UFC champ. And I’ve done everything I’ve ever kinda set my mind to. Those were the two biggest things anyone could do. I don’t see myself fighting for [more than] maybe three or four years.”

If the men’s flyweight division does come to a close one day, it would leave the promotion with eleven weight classes ranging from women’s strawweight to men’s heavyweight.
