Germaine De Randamie Refusing To Fight Cyborg, Then Cyborg Responds
UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine De randamie hasn’t been heard from or seen much since winning the gold by defeating former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm at UFC 208.
Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino is considered the top female featherweight in all of MMA and De Randamie is refusing to fight her.
“Germaine and her team have talked, and the position is that she will not fight ‘Cyborg’ because ‘Cyborg’ is a known and proven cheater,” De Randamie’s manager in Brian Butler said to MMA Junkie. “Even after so much scrutiny has been put on ‘Cyborg,’ she still managed to pop for something and will always be a person of suspicion who is trying to beat the system rather than just conforming to the rules.”
Upon hearing the news, the former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion in Cyborg took to Twitter:
No one thinks the @ufc 145lbs belt is a world championship. @IronLadyMMA you can't beat someone with 2 straight losses 2b champ @seanshelby

Some people are so afraid to lose that they will find every excuse not to try. @IronLadyMMA you can't doubt yourself champs are confident

UFC President Dana White recently stated that the promotion is going to issue a statement soon on De Randamie’s future in the organization.
Butler also said that De Randamie would rather give up the title instead of fighting Cyborg.
“Germaine and her team don’t believe that ‘Cyborg’ should be allowed to compete in the UFC at all,” Butler said. “If that is the only fight the UFC wants, then Germaine is willing to wait and see if the UFC will strip her belt before making her next move.”
Thus far in the history of the UFC, there has only been a single women’s featherweight division fight and there are none booked in the near future.
