Frank Trigg Says McGregor Can’t Beat Mayweather

Frank Trigg says Conor McGregor is not ready for a real boxing match.

Prompted by Dana White saying McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather will happen, Frank Trigg discussed the potential boxing match with Fightful MMA podcast host "Showdown Joe" Ferraro. Trigg thinks anyone giving McGregor a chance is completely wrong.

"It really makes no sense for this fight to happen, other than it gives Conor McGregor more leverage for what he wants. He wants UFC to give him money, and give him a part of everything when he fights, which is what happens in boxing. Its more of a leverage deal. But if the fight happens, it's up to Mayweather, does he want a short night and get rid of him by the the third round or does he carry him out to twelve. Joe Rogan came out with this big, long thing about how Conor can  beat Mayweather, Stop It.That's like saying 'I'm a really really really really good tennis player, now I'm going to go play hockey,'" said Trigg. "There's no way to make the transfer, Michael Jordan one of the best athletes of all time tried to make a transfer from basketball to baseball and he couldn't do it," added Trigg.

He went on to say boxing is only "one aspect" of mixed-martial-arts and claimed a real boxer like Mayweather would be a completely different opponent for McGregor. He also said someone has to compromise in order for the fight to get done, but ultimately Mayweather has the most leverage.  Topics also discussed on the episode were UFC's recent events and UFC rankings.

Trigg appears weekly on FightfulMMA's podcast on Thursdays
