Frank Mir Wants To Fight Fedor Emelianenko & Brock Lesnar

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir was recently granted a release by the UFC, a promotion he has been with for over a decade.

Wherever he winds up with next, the former heavyweight champion wants to fight either Fedor Emelianenko or Brock Lesnar.

“I think (the Fedor fight) would be a phenomenal fight to have on my name as far as somebody that I faced throughout my career,” Mir said to MMA Fighting. “And another one too would be to finish the trilogy with Brock Lesnar. I kind of want to make to (where) I’m not solidified with one company, and they give me the leniency to fight outside, move around.”

Mir hasn’t competed since being knocked out by Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 85 and is currently serving a suspension from USADA after a failed drug test.

Despite the suspension and inactivity, the former champion feels better than ever.

“I feel better now, physically and stuff,” Mir said. “Competing is something that once I retire from, it’s not something I can go back and do. … I can’t wait to go back out there to compete.”

Emelianenko has currently one fight left on his Bellator MMA deal and Lesnar is rumored to be returning to the UFC to fight light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
