Frank Mir Nervous For Jon Jones If He faces Stipe Miocic
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones recaptured the gold when he finished Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 214.
Jones has made waves about a move to heavyweight in the future and if he faces UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic, then Frank Mir would be nervous for him.
“The only fight immediately that would make me nervous for Jon would be Stipe,” Mir said on The MMA Hour. “I think any other heavyweight I can see [Jones] beating. Stipe is a hard one. And I think Alistair, too, might be a hard one.”
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is the only heavyweight that Jones has directly challenged at the moment.
No matter who Jones may fight down the line at heavyweight, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion in Mir says Jones could get the job done.
“Could he do it?” Mir said. “Would I put it past Jon? No. Not at all. I’ve trained with him. I know how good he is. He’s not giving up reach and distance. It would just be that horsepower. Could he eliminate it through his technical wrestling and his angles? He very well may could.”
It could be a while before Jones gets his wish and fights Lesnar, as Lesnar is current serving a one year suspension from USADA.
