Francis Ngannou Wants Title Shot At UFC 218, Pulled From UFC 215
Francis Ngannou was set to face former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos at UFC 215, but then Dos Santos was pulled from the event due to a potential USADA violation.
With the fight no longer taking place, the heavyweight contender would like a shot at UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 218, as opposed to fighting in September for the UFC. He's been officially pulled from UFC 215.
The heavyweight contender made his challenge to the champion through Twitter:
Stipe doesn't have an opponent for December 2nd at Detroit ! I'm here @ufc @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 let me do this fight —— pic.twitter.com/3M9UtK4RPn

Miocic has yet to respond to the challenge from Ngannou and he hasn’t competed since defeating the aforementioned Dos Santos at UFC 211. Miocic has stated recently, however, that he's looking to gain a new contract from the UFC before he entertains the idea of fighting again. All of Miocic's championship opponents have earned more than he did in victory against them.
UFC 218 takes place on Saturday, December 11 from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
