Francis Ngannou Requests Title Shot, Doesn’t Get The Best Response

Francis Ngannou was last seen in action in the main event of UFC Fight Night Minneapolis, defeating former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos by first round TKO.

The fighter recently asked the UFC for a shot at the UFC Heavyweight Title, but he may have to wait a long time before getting one.

“I asked about the title shot,” Ngannou said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (via Jordan Ellis of Low Kick MMA). “And they said they have a trilogy between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier and they don’t know exactly what’s going to happen because Miocic is recovering from an eye injury. So here we are.”

Ngannou has challenged once before for the UFC Heavyweight Title, losing to current champ Stipe Miocic by unanimous decision at UFC 220.

A fighter who has recently called Ngannou out is Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ngannou seems interested in fighting him.

“At this point, I don’t have many options, so yes, I’m interested as long as I have a fight, I can fight. He made himself very clear and loud about his desire to fight me,” said Ngannou.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is expected to get a third bout with Miocic next, but there is no time table for when that bout will happen.
