Some sad news for the MMA and pro wrestling world.
Former MMA promoter and pro wrestler Nick "Big Bully" Busick passed away today at the age of 63. The news was delivered by way of his wife's Facebook page, and prayers, wishes, and farewells from family, friends, and fans can be seen on Nick Busick's Facebook timeline.
In May of 1978 Busick wrestled his first match for the then-WWWF. Throughout the 80's Busick developed his "Big Bully" character and in 1989 he debuted for the World Wrestling Federation. During his time in the company Busick was managed by former WWF Women's Champion Harvey Wipplemen as Busick would do the bullying in the ring while Wipplemen did the antagonizing on the outside. Before leaving the WWF in 1991 Busick competed against a number of legends in the business including Bret Hart, Jimmy Snuka, and Sid Vicious. For the MMA side of his career Busick hosted three events under the "Big Bully MMA" banner.
Nick Busick was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2015 and had issues with swallowing among other troubles. In his chemotherapy treatment for the esophageal cancer he lost 78 lbs. In 2016 Busick received good news that he was cancer free but the following year he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This year Busick was diagnosed with 'Leptomeningeal Metastases' which is when the already existing cancer cells in one's body spreads to the cerebrospinal fluid. Nick Busick passed away today in his hometown of Weirton, West Virginia where he was in hospice care.
