Former UFC Title Challengers Set To Clash At UFC 210
A welterweight division affair has been added to this April’s UFC 210 card, with that fight seeing Patrick Cote going up against Thiago Alves.
Cote (23-10-0) has won six of eight fights since dropping from middleweight to welterweight, with some notable victories coming over Alessio Sakara, Kyle Noke, Joe Riggs, Josh Burkman and Ben Saunders. Cote has previously challenged for the UFC Middleweight Title, losing to then champion Anderson Silva by injury at UFC 90 in 2008. Cote is currently in his second run with the UFC, which has resulted in a 6-3 record.
Alves (21-11-0) will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to the duo of Carlos Condit and Jim Miller. It has been over two years since the last time Alves earned a win under the UFC banner, with his last win coming over Jordan Mein at UFC 183. Alves has previously challenged for the UFC Welterweight Title, losing to then-champion Georges St. Pierre by decision at UFC 100 in July 2009.
UFC 210 takes place on Saturday, April 8 from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York with Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson headlining.
