Former Shooto Brazil Bantamweight Champion Glyan Alves Shot & Killed In Brazil
Former Shooto Brazil and JF Fight Bantamweight Champion Glyan Alves was shot and killed this past Tuesday night in Juiz Fora, Brazil.
MMA Fighting first reported the news, citing Alves’ father and coach, and Alves was 25 years old at the time of his passing.
Alves was reportedly shot three times while in the garage of his home and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where Alves died after also suffering from multiple heart attacks. It is unknown who killed Alves at this time and the status of the investigation is also unknown at this time.
The deceased fighter’s second daughter was born yesterday, one day after his untimely passing.
Glyan held a professional MMA record of 13-5-0, with his last fight being a split decision loss to Elvis Batista Da Silva at Shooto Brazil 94 in August of last year. Alves was known as a finisher throughout his professional MMA career, with eight of the thirteen professional MMA victories coming by way of KO/TKO and one coming by way of submission.
