First Five Fights Announced For UFC Fight Night Chile, Alexa Grasso Among Additions
The first fights have been announced for the upcoming UFC Fight Night Chile card, with those bouts being Chad Laprise versus Vincente Luque, Diego Rivas versus Guido Cannetti, #10 Alexa Grasso versus #14 Tatiana Suarez, Poliana Botelho versus Syuri Kondo and Andrea Lee versus Veronica Macedo.
Laprise (13-2-0) enters the contest on a three bout winning streak, last defeating Galore Bofando at UFC On Fox 26. Laprise has seen his last three bouts end via KO/TKO and it has been almost two years since one of the welterweight’s bouts went the distance.
Luque (12-6-1) has won five of his last six in the UFC, with that lone defeat coming to Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 107. Luque has earned all of his UFC wins by a form of finish, while suffering all of the defeats by way of decision.
Rivas (7-1-0) is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Jose Alberto Quinonez at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Rivas also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Latin America 1, losing in the opening round to Gabriel Benitez.
Cannetti (7-3-0) has won just one of three bouts thus far in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Hugo Viana at UFC 190. Cannetti also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Latin America 1, suffering defeats to Marco Beltran and Alejandro Perez.
Grasso (10-1-0) has won two of three thus far during her time in the UFC, last defeating Randa Markos at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Grasso also spent some time competing in the Invicta FC promotion, where she defeated fellow UFC fighter Jodie Esquibel.
Suarez (5-0-0) won the UFC Ultimate Fighter 23, defeating Amanda Bobby Cooper in the finals of the reality show. Suarez also competed in the Gladiator Challenge promotion, winning all three fights she fought at within the organization.
Botelho (6-1-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Pearl Gonzalez by decision at UFC 216. Botelho is also a former Xtreme Fighting Championships International Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Silvana Gomez Juarez to win the strap.
Kondo (6-0-0) has already competed once in the UFC, defeating Chanmi Jeon by split decision at UFC Fight Night Japan. Kondo is also a former Pancrase Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Kinberly Tanaka Novaes to win the belt in May of 2017.
Lee (8-2-0) is going to be making her UFC debut in this fight and she is also the current Legacy Fighting Alliance Women’s Flyweight Champion. Lee has suffered two defeats as a professional MMA fighter, with one of them coming to fellow UFC fighter Roxanne Modafferi.
Macedo (5-1-1) is currently winless thus far during her UFC tenure, suffering a loss to Ashlee Evans-Smith at UFC Fight Night 93. Macedo is also returning to action after a year-plus layoff, as UFC Fight Night 93 took place on September of 2016.
UFC Fight Night Chile takes place on Saturday, May 19 from the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
