Firas Zahabi Says Khabib Nurmagomedov Bullied A Bully At UFC 229
UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov may have choked out Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229, but hopping the Octagon fence to start a post-fight brawl is what most will probably remember best from that event.
Firas Zahabi has seen a lot of craziness in his years as an MMA coach, but he says that the UFC Lightweight Champion bullied a bully at UFC 229.
Zahabi shared his thoughts on what went down with a series of posts on Twitter:
Well said. Hyping up a fight is one thing but leave family out of it. Congratulations to @TeamKhabib the best lightweight in history!! https://t.co/g4vphcox2y

@TeamKhabib bullied a bully tonight. @TheNotoriousMMA has crossed the line many times. Khabib has always been respectful throughout his career. Talking about Khabibs’s dad is as low as u can go. https://t.co/NcY9gBmUsq

Very true. If you insult a man be ready to face him. Dillon Danis needs to grow up. If Marcelo Garcia (the sweetest man in Jiu-Jitsu) kicks u out of his gym then u are as intolerable as u can get. https://t.co/trmrHOYlEf

Just to be clear I don’t condone what happen to McGregor (being attack after the fight) and I don’t agree with Khabib going after Danis. Still Danis needs to stop acting like a fool and McGregor needs keep family out of it. https://t.co/1hUCoaz9cE

No doubt all punches thrown after the fight was wrong but I understand Khabib wanting to teach Danis a lesson. There is a such thing as going to far. https://t.co/EUBCEEpkjy

McGregor, in the lead up to the fight, took aim at Nurmagomedov in a wide variety of way, from insulting the fighters religion to insulting his family and event the champion’s home country.
Nurmagomedov has had his fight purse withheld for the time being after inciting the brawl and could be facing added punishments from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
