Featherweight Fight Set For Bellator 180

A featherweight division attraction has been added to the upcoming Bellator 180 card as James Gallagher will be fighting Chinzo Machida.

Gallagher (6-0-0) has already competed three times under the Bellator MMA banner, defeating the trio of Mike Cutting, Anthony Taylor and Kirill Medvedovsky. Gallagher has also competed once the the UK-based BAMMA promotion, where he defeated Gerard Gilmore by first round submission. Gallagher has seen four of his six bouts as a pro end in the first round, with only one of his fights going the distance.

Machida (5-2-0) is currently undefeated in Bellator MMA competition as well, having defeated the duo of Mario Navarro and Jamar Ocampo. Machida has not competed twice a year in any year since he turned pro in 2005, there was also a time he competed just once in a seven year period. Machida is also the brother of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in six-plus years.

Bellator 180 takes place on Saturday, June 24 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
