Faber Not Playing The Ducking Game

Jimmie Rivera is widely considered to be one of the biggest prospects in the UFC Bantamweight Division at the moment and according to upcoming opponent Urijah Faber, the UFC is full of “wussies” because a lot of people having been ducking the prospect.

During the UFC 203 media scrum, the former WEC Featherweight Champion stated…

“I’m excited for this fight. This guy Jimmie Rivera, I like his attitude. I like what he represents. He’s a hard working guy, he’s a respected guy, a respectful guy. He’s put in his time and it sounds like guys are dodging him, because he’s tough and not many people know him, and I think that’s B.S. It’s a bunch of wusses out there. This is not a sport to be a baby.”

Faber (33-9-0) himself is in a big spot here, as he just lost a rubber match to UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 199, a big win could get him back into title contention.

Rivera (19-1-0), will be looking to get the biggest win of his career, a career that has seen him defeat such notables as Iuri Alcantara, Pedro MUnhoz and Marcus Brimage.

Faber knows just how dangerous his foe can be, because at the same UFC 203 media scrum, he stated…

“If you see the guys…even the fights he’s had outside of the UFC have been very tough,” he said. “I mean, we’re talking about the best guys in the world, and you only get recognition when you get these opportunities. And I’m not here to stop anybody from having an opportunity. I actually hate that. A guy like this, he’s earned whatever he gets, and right now he’s earned a whoopin’ from me.”

UFC 203 will be taking place on Saturday, September 10th from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio with Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem headlining.
