Tanner Saraceno was one of the standouts on the 2015 edition of WWE Tough Enough, but wasn’t signed after the show as Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose and Velveteen Dream were.
In fact, Saraceno, Chelsea Green and Gabi Castrovinci were probably odds on favorites to get picked up by the company, but were passed up for the likes of ZZ Loupe and Mada Abdelhamid. Winners Josh Bredl and Sara Lee were cut loose without ever really appearing on NXT programming, but when Saraceno spoke to Fightful.com ahead of his LFA 49 fight this weekend, he says we could see Bredl in the MMA cage.
“Every now and then I touch base with the guys, mostly Josh. He’s wanting to come over to the MMA world. He’s a freakish specimen. I told him to come down to my gym and I’d train him myself. He has a ton of athleticism and work ethic. I think he could make a great turn to MMA,” Saraceno told us.
Saraceno told us that he pretty quickly abandoned pro wrestling after not getting picked up by WWE but is open to doing more wrestling and spoke about the marriage between WWE and MMA.
“They’re two competing sports in a way, but I don’t think they’re as competitive where you should shun the other. It’s much more difficult to send a WWE competitor into an MMA fight. That takes some serious time. A lot of the movements you make in a fight, you can bring into WWE. You just have to learn the theatrics of it. I think on the indie circuits they should be reaching out to these prospects like myself who can do both. I don’t see the harm in testing your abilities and trying new things,” said Saraceno.
Saraceno competes on LFA 49 this Friday, September 14 live on AXS TV against Jonavin Webb. You can see the full interview with Saraceno above.
